You can retire from a career--but not from a calling.
In Lancaster County, PA, people discover retirement anew.
Here’s just one example: At age 84, he pedaled around our community on a bicycle, because that’s how he'd get around in Japan. Every day he climbed five flights of stairs, delivering newspapers to get in shape for a fifth-floor apartment in a building with no elevator, typical in Japan. At a time when most people would settle for retirement in an easy chair, he was getting ready to leave the comforts of his Pennsylvania home for two years of missionary work in Japan. He loved Quarryville and planned to return here, but even more, he loved proclaiming God’s might and power to the next generation.
That’s the story of just one resident with a mission—yet everyone here shares it: corporate CEOs and inventors, homemakers and teachers, artists and authors, people from all walks of life. They join together at Quarryville to rejoice in and proclaim the love of Christ. Their testimonials are our most gratifying reward.
Free from the responsibilities of maintaining a house, they can relax in their cottage or apartment, take part in an abundance of enriching activities, travel with new friends, dedicate themselves to volunteer work, or take up a new hobby. They can enjoy cooking when they feel the urge, but can choose fine dining any time they please, with signature dishes prepared by our executive chef. Every day is rich with enjoyable and purposeful activity.

“O God, from my youth You have taught me, and I still proclaim Your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim Your might to another generation, Your power to all those to come. – Psalm 71:17-18 (ESV)
